The data for the 2-DFactor example in the Structural Equation Modeling article (Vermunt and Magidson, 2020) can be found in the LatentGOLD HELP menu,

HELP > GUI Examples > DFactor models > Dichotomous > Exploratory and Confirmatory 2-DFactor

After selecting this example, estimate all these models by highlighting the data file, and from the Model Menu select ‘Estimate All’.

Focusing on ‘Model J. 3-cluster model with active covariates’, examine the Bivariate Residuals output. Now, remove the covariates SEX and AGE and re-estimate with only EDUC as an active covariate. Do you think you should include a direct effect in this model? Explain.
